Our Mortar + Pestles are hand made from hard maple for both beauty and utility. Every mortar has a small, slanted lip to help pour its smashed contents or catch the pestle while not in use.  We hand turn each Mortar + Pestle, thus each pestle will vary slightly and be truly unique.  

We think our Mortar + Pestles work best for everyday soft herbs and spices like basils, cilantros, garlic, etc.  Finished with a food safe kiln cured tung oil.

Hew Mortar + Pestles will look just as great sitting on your kitchen counter top as they will crushing up the herbs for your night's meal.

Use & Care
Hand wash only.  Refresh with Mineral Oil as needed.

Each Mortar + Pestle is designed and turned by Hew founder, Sterling Collins in Portland, Oregon.  Each Mortar + Pestle is made to order, please allow 3-4 weeks for crafting and processing.
