Sterling Collins

Sterling Collins is a designer and craftsperson based in Portland, Oregon.  In 2013, Sterling founded his practice, Hew, which creates furniture and small wares.  This work concentrates on the objects used in our everyday lives.  All work is designed and hand built by Sterling.

As a part of his commitment to craft, Sterling is also a woodworking instructor. Sterling has taught primarily through Oregon College of Art and Craft, as a visiting artist at large social media companies, and through group and private lessons in his shop.

Prior to forming his studio, Sterling practiced architecture at an international firm based in Chicago.  There he worked on the design teams for several of the tallest buildings in the world, including work throughout the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
