Terms & Conditions

Lead Times: 

All small ware orders are subject to a 6-8 weeks lead time from date of purchase.  Furniture purchases are subject to an 8-10 week lead time.  We do our best to beat this (and we usually do,) but sometimes we have a heavy production schedule.  Orders may not be cancelled nor will deposits be refunded if orders are outside of normal lead time window due to production scheduling.    We will do our best to let you know if this is the case.  Feel free to contact us with questions about our shipping policies or expedited orders.

Dimensions of Orders: 

Most of what we make is relatively small so this section is mostly for furniture items and custom items.  Hew uses imperial measurements (inches/feet,) customers are responsible for ensuring that all elevator lifts, door openings, hallways, stairwells, etc can accommodate proper delivery.  Hew is not responsible, nor can we offer refunds or cancellations if your item is found to not fit or be undeliverable under your specific building conditions.  So go double check real quick.


No item will be shipped or delivered unless payment in full has been received.  Payment in full is due at time of purchase for all standard orders.  Custom orders are subject to a 50% deposit fee, deposit is due before work will commence.  All custom orders are subject to a $200 design fee.  The remaining balance must be paid in full before shipment or delivery can be made.  Deposits are non-refundable and are not able to be cancelled under any circumstances.


You bought it, we made it, now we'll send it to you.  For standard orders we use delivery services such as USPS, UPS or FedEx.  For items to domestic and international addresses requiring freight we use 3rd party freight companies.  Hew will make delivery arrangements on Buyer's behalf.  Residential delivery will include a lift gate and delivery to Buyer's front door.  It is the Buyer's responsibility to notify Hew of any special requests beyond what is considered standard "curb-side" delivery (such as white glove service).  We do our best to accommodate your requests.

How we make it:

We back the quality of all the items we make and guarantee our work from defects due to craftsmanship for four (4) years.  Everything is made in-house by a real live craftsperson.  We make everything using both traditional and contemporary joinery techniques to ensure longevity and structural soundness.  Wood is a natural material and may vary in appearance and may change with time, this is to be expected (as with the other natural materials we use.)  We like it and hope you will celebrate these variances that contribute to each piece being one of a kind.

Hew et al and our partners are not responsible for any losses or damages caused from use/misuse of items, inclusive but not limited to improper installation, altering or manipulating item, loss of items/parts, damage, defects, etc.  The buyer takes all responsibility inclusive in use.


We will do our best to specify any possible allergens in the product description, however, as a wood shop we use lots of tree nut lumber and natural finishes which may also contain nuts or traces of (example: hazelnut wood or walnut oil) and cannot gaurantee against contamination.  Therefore tree nut or other allergen contamination is possible on all items even if they are not explicitly nut based.  We thought we should tell you, we might be nutty.

Refund Policies

General Refunds:

We make each piece one at a time, just for you.  We know you're going to like what we send you but just in case you aren't let us know.  We'll either fix it or refund your money within 30 days of purchase (less return shipping and a 10% service charge.)  

Canceling an Order:

Same as above, we make it one at a time.  As such orders are not subject to cancellation or changes after 48 hours (2 days) from the time of purchase.  This helps us cover our bases, just in case.  

Customers are responsible for all return shipping costs/fees as well as a 10% service charge.
